Rick started riding motorcycles at age 9 and trials at 13. He quickly advanced through the classes, going from novice to master in less than a year, and competed in his first national competition at age 14 in the Championship class. At that time, he was the youngest person to compete in the top ranked class at the Nationals. Rick continued to compete at the local and national level, obtaining several top national finishes throughout the 70’s, 80’s and into the 90’s. In 1993 he left the sport to pursue other interests, then re-emerged competing at the local level in 2005 on a GasGas TXT 280 Pro. In his first year back riding after a 12 year break, Rick quickly acclimated to the GasGas and scored several victories locally and nationally by 2007. Rick enjoys helping today’s young riders develop their skills, and doing demonstrations to help promote the sport. Rick has been married to his wife Sherri for 29 years, and has two children, Dustin and Misty. Dustin has followed in his fathers footsteps and is a top ranked trials rider himself. Rick has two grandchildren, Alyssa and Dalton, and is looking forward to watching his grandson compete soon. Rick has been employed by the Kansas Air National Guard for 23 years as an aircraft mechanic. Some of Rick’s accomplishments are; |
