PIERCE BROWN KEEPS CHARGING WITH P4 FINISH AT INDY TRIPLE CROWN

View Profile

Fourth place overall marked another convincing performance from Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing rider Pierce Brown in 250SX East at the Indianapolis Triple Crown round of the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship, remaining in the title race over halfway through the season. 450SX teammate Justin Barcia is trending in the right direction after taking P8 overall tonight.

  • PB rebounds from opening race to land on 250SX East podium
  • Second in the final race the highlight for Brown in tricky conditions
  • Encouraging eighth overall continues Bam Bam's 450SX climb

A tough opening race saw Brown recover from an early crash for 12th and then he managed to salvage fourth despite going down again in Race 2, before his best ride of the night was saved for last when he charged to second position riding the GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition. That 12-4-2 scorecard placed him fourth overall for the second week in a row, continuing his perfect stretch of top-five finishes and he's still third in points – only 11 outside of the red plate.

Pierce Brown: "Fourth overall, I'm not stoked, but not mad about it after a rough first main. The second two were better with a fourth and a second, so I just need to eliminate those mistakes and we will get there. It was a good way to finish the night in P2, and we will keep pushing from here!"

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing teammate Barcia was also impressive tonight, ripping his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition to 7-9-6 results. After qualifying P8 during the afternoon and then consistently factoring inside the top 10 tonight, his results are on the up and Bam Bam has also now worked his way to ninth in the championship order.

Justin Barcia: "I qualified P8, so I was happy with that today and the bike was working really well. First race was a bit of a blur – I don't really quite remember! – but in the second one I was riding well even though I made a few too many little mistakes. Third race, I was all over the guys at the end for a top five and pulled up in sixth. All in all, it was a positive weekend and we're gonna keep pushing hard to have better results and get back on that podium soon."

SEASON-BEST FOURTH POSITION FROM PIERCE BROWN IN BIRMINGHAM

View Profile

Birmingham's ninth round of the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship was a solid one for Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing, where Pierce Brown recorded a season-best fourth-place finish in 250SX East and Justin Barcia rode to ninth position in the 450SX Main Event.

  • Pierce Brown goes one better for his best result of the season in P4
  • Bam Bam finds a new direction to begin mid-season turnaround
  • Team looks ahead to next weekend's second Triple Crown of the year

Brown was once again a factor in 250SX East, qualifying in position five during the afternoon and then charging to P2 in his Heat race. From there, he raced to a season-best fourth position in the Main Event, continuing his consistent run of top-five results on the GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition. He's still third in the point standings, only five points outside of the lead following four rounds.

Pierce Brown: "I'm happy, but not satisfied. We're still in it in the points, but it wasn't the Main Event that I wanted. I made a couple of mistakes, which cost me a podium, but that was on me – we need better starts. Like I said though, we're in it in the points and I'm stoked with that heading into Indy next weekend! I just need to keep knocking on the door, doing what I'm doing and we'll get it eventually. Overall, we're trending in the right direction!"

Tonight was an important one for Barcia on his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition. He was eighth on the charts in qualifying and then surged to fourth place in his Heat, before claiming an encouraging ninth in the 450SX Main Event. That result moved him inside the top 10 in the standings as we move into the second half of the season.

Justin Barcia: "Overall, it was a good night, and we had a lot of positives to take away. We went in a different direction with set-up this week and it has given me the comfort I've been looking for, so ready to get back home and put in more work to keep progressing."

FIFTH AT DAYTONA SUPERCROSS KEEPS PIERCE BROWN IN 250SX EAST TITLE CONTENTION

View Profile

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing's Pierce Brown made it a third-straight fifth-place result to open the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship in 250SX East, delivering another solid performance at the famed Daytona International Speedway.

  • Third-straight top-five result for PB in 250SX East
  • Improvements evident as Justin Barcia climbs 450SX order
  • Both riders qualify strong at the world-famous venue

Brown has been a picture of consistency this year equipped with the GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition, going 5-5-5 across the opening three rounds of the eastern region and is now tied for P2 in the standings, only a single point behind the series leader. He qualified fourth and then replicated that finish in his Heat Race, before scoring P5 in the Main Event.

Pierce Brown: "Another fifth was okay on paper, but a disappointing night. I didn't get the start that I needed and it was hard to make passes, so we'll regroup and pick some stuff up for next week. Overall, the bike is good and the team is also, I just need to get a start and put myself into position sooner."

The weekend was a step forward for Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing rider Justin Barcia in 450SX, qualifying in sixth place and then storming to P5 in the opening Heat Race. He was affected by an average start in the Main Event, completing lap one in P18, before putting on a charge to claim 11th position on his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition.

Justin Barcia: "Daytona definitely wasn't the result we wanted, but we had some positives in practice, qualified a lot better today and there's some light at the tunnel, which was cool. Led a little bit in the Heat, like half a lap, and then got a bit tight and ended up going down once, but it was okay. In the Main Event, I didn't get off the start the best, had a couple of bobbles, crashed and really just struggled to hold on – I had some bad arm-pump tonight. We'll regroup again and be back at it next week!"

Daytona also saw the 250SX Futures on track for the second time this season, where GASGAS amateur racer Cole Davies charged to second position in the Main Event and currently sits on top of the point standings following his 1-2 results to date on the GASGAS MC 250F.

SPEED ON PIERCE BROWN'S SIDE IN ARLINGTON WITH ANOTHER TOP-FIVE FINISH

View Profile

Outright speed was evident yet again for Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing's Pierce Brown in the latest round of the AMA Supercross Championship, with Arlington marking the second stop of 250SX East for season 2024.

  • Team celebrates Military Appreciation Round at AT&T Stadium
  • Second-straight fifth place boosts PB to second in the 250SX East
  • Bam Bam overcomes afternoon crash to claim 450SX points

Pace has been on Pierce's side so far across the opening two rounds of 250SX East riding his GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition, qualifying in third position today before finishing sixth in his Heat Race.

The start didn't go his way in the Main Event, however he managed to put on a charge from outside of the top 10 to fifth position by the time the checkered flag waved. With 5-5 scores to open the series, he's climbed to second in the point standings.

Pierce Brown: "Overall, not a bad weekend. Riding was good and I think we improved as a whole, so that was good. We got another fifth, but we're second in points now and we're in this – I'm excited! Now we're back to work on Monday to tighten a few things up before Daytona this weekend."

Premier class teammate Justin Barcia pressed on in 450SX following a heavy crash in practice, able to put a difficult afternoon behind him to transfer via a win in the LCQ and then push to 14th in the Main Event. He's now 11th in the championship, motivated to regain full fitness and his front-running form on the GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition.

Justin Barcia: "Tough day here in Arlington. I had a big get-off in the final practice, lucky to somewhat come out of it alright with no big injuries – just a bit of whiplash, a bit bruised up, and a bit sore. Unfortunately, a crash in the Heat put me in the LCQ, which I won, and then in the Main Event I got in a second turn pile-up. I put on a good charge, was moving through the pack, and was about to crack into the top 10, but had another crash so that pretty much ended my hopes of a good result. It was a really tough weekend, but we're gonna go back to the drawing board and keep working. We never give up."

TROY LEE DESIGNS/RED BULL/GASGAS FACTORY RACING LOOKS AHEAD FOLLOWING GLENDALE

View Profile

Glendale marked the toughest night of the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship season so far for Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing, with team riders Justin Barcia and Ryder DiFrancesco each experiencing their share of adversity, but remaining motivated to bounce back in the coming weeks.

  • 450SX Class contender Justin Barcia battles hard throughout Main Event
  • A fall in the 250SX West Class Main Event marked the end of Ryder D's night
  • Troy Lee Designs x Palm Tree Crew collaboration turns heads in Arizona

Barcia and his Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing MC 450F Factory Edition charged to a sixth-place finish in his Heat Race, ensuring Bam Bam a place on the line and a decent gate selection as the Main Event arrived.

The Main Event would mark a challenging outing for the experienced premier class front-runner, who battled hard just outside the top 10 before going down and eventually being credited with 18th position. He's currently 10th in the 450SX standings entering a single weekend off.

With the return of the 250SX West division inside State Farm Stadium, Ryder D completed qualifying in eighth position, equipped with his GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition, before racing to sixth place in his Heat Race and enjoying a share of momentum leading to the night’s Main Event.

An unfortunate crash, however, saw DiFrancesco end his night prematurely in Glendale with a DNF, but will be fit to race-on in Arlington next month. He will also take advantage of the upcoming six-week break in the 250SX West schedule.

Max Lee – Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager: "It was a tough night for the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS team. Ryder started out strong during the first part of the day, he had a couple of bad starts, but ultimately a crash in the Main ended his night early. He was evaluated and released, so will be ready to line up at the next 250 West round. Justin struggled all day, the team worked to get things better, although he ended up crashing in the Main as well. We're ready for a weekend off to regroup and we’ve got some work to do before Arlington."

TROY LEE DESIGNS/RED BULL/GASGAS FACTORY RACING'S PIERCE BROWN CHARGES TO TOP-FIVE FINISH IN DETROIT

View Profile

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team's Pierce Brown opened his 250SX East campaign with a fifth-place finish at the region's season-opener in Detroit, as 450SX Class racer Justin Barcia raced to a P12 result at Round 5 of the AMA Supercross Championship.

  • The 2024 AMA Supercross Championship shifted East inside Detroit's Ford Field
  • Pierce Brown recovers for fifth place finish as 250SX East Class season takes off
  • Fastest in qualifying the highlight for in-form Brown to open the new series

Barcia arrived in Detroit onboard his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition, dialing his machine in throughout qualifying before capturing third place in his Heat Race.

The Main Event would mark a more challenging outing for Bam Bam, who was buried off the start as the gates dropped. On a rutty, one-lined circuit, the number 51 did what he could to mount a comeback, which resulted in 12th place on the night.

Justin Barcia: “Struggled a little bit in practice to find a flow today... the track was super-technical with the ruts. I had a really good Heat Race, it was nice to get the fresh track as the first race of the program, so that was cool. Charged up to third in the Heat, then made a little change heading into the Main Event, and unfortunately it was the wrong direction as I was pretty uncomfortable. Not so good result, but we’re determined to work hard and come out swinging in Arizona!”

In his first appearance of 2024, Brown showcased speed immediately as the 250SX East Class opened in Detroit, taking his GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition to pole position in qualifying and demonstrating the work having been done throughout the pre-season.

Converting his speed to third position in his Heat Race, a mid-pack start for Brown and being caught up in a multi-rider incident to commence the Main Event saw him playing catch up as he sliced his way through the field, capturing a strong fifth place result by race's end.

Pierce Brown: “Round 1 for us is over and done with, I got the nerves out of the way which feels good. Overall, not a bad day, I got away lucky especially with what happened at the start of the Main… that was hectic! Salvaged a fifth, which isn’t too bad, and we’re in a good spot for the upcoming races, so I’m excited to put some work in and come out swinging at Round 2.”

TRIPLE CROWN CHALLENGE FOR TROY LEE DESIGNS/RED BULL/GASGAS FACTORY RACING AT ANAHEIM 2

View Profile

The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team endured a challenging night out at Round 4 of the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship in Anaheim, California, with 450SX Class racer Justin Barcia credited P13, while 250SX West Class contender Ryder DiFrancesco finished with eighth overall.

  • Ghostbusters partnership headlines first Triple Crown round of the year for AMA Supercross
  • Ryder D posts consistent scorecard to seal P8 finish in 250SX West division
  • MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado delivers 12th overall in final 450SX Class appearance of the year

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing’s Barcia arrived at Angel Stadium in style, as the team collaborated with Sony Pictures for the upcoming Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire film, with Bam Bam seated behind the wheel of the iconic 'Ectomobile' before climbing aboard his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition.

Race day marked a difficult one for the number 51, who struggled to come to grips with the dry, fast layout that Anaheim 2 presented to the riders. In a night marred with misfortune and falls, the New York native would post 13-16-11 results across the trio of intense Races, which would position him 13th overall.

Justin Barcia:“It was a very challenging day for me at A2 and definitely one to leave in the past. I struggled from the get-go… I just wasn’t very comfortable. A few too many crashes, which ruined our races, although I did get good starts! In the second Race I was in a good position, then had a big crash. Race 3, I was caught up with another rider getting squirrely, which put me back, and overall just a very challenging day. We'll need a rebound in Detroit!”

DiFrancesco opened Round 4 by posting the seventh-fastest qualifying time in 250SX West, which the young Californian would back up with a strong fifth place in Race 1 after fighting for the lead early on his GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition. A consistent seventh-place in Race 2, combined with 12th in Race 3, saw Ryder D take home eighth overall for the weekend.

Ryder DiFrancesco:“Positives from the weekend were my starts, they were way better, and then in Race 1 I was right amongst the fight. I made some mistakes across the day, but I'm ready to take this next weekend off and come back for Glendale in a better position.”

Anaheim 2 presented another night of learning for defending MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado, gaining immense experience across the opening four rounds through the month of January.

Racing his first-career Triple Crown, the Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing regular delivered a 12-8-15 scorecard, earning the Spaniard 12th overall for his final outing in AMA Supercross for the 2024 season.

Jorge Prado:“Just finished my racing here in the U.S. and it’s been a great experience. I would say that this was my second real Supercross behind Anaheim 1, because this one and A1 seemed like the track was more realistic to Supercross with the conditions. I’m happy with my progress, the Triple Crown today was way different again... So much speed and intensity in the first laps, and I struggled with that, especially in the first one. I dropped back to P12 quickly, so I made more adjustments for the other two. But overall, I am quite satisfied, it’s been a good experience, for sure, and with more racing I could get better, so I am motivated for the future.”

Anaheim 2 also saw the opening stop of the 250SX Futures development category, where new GASGAS amateur recruit Cole Davies won the Main Event to commence his 2024 AMA Supercross campaign in fine fashion on the top step of the podium.

PODIUM SCORE IN SAN DIEGO FOR TROY LEE DESIGNS/RED BULL/GASGAS FACTORY RACING’S JUSTIN BARCIA

View Profile

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team’s Justin Barcia rebounded in style following a spell with illness to claim a strong third-place finish in the 450SX Main Event in San Diego, as 250SX West Class contender Ryder DiFrancesco finished with a consistent P9 result.

  • Bam Bam battles to first 450SX podium of the 2024 season inside Snapdragon Stadium
  • Ninth-place finish for newcomer Ryder D in the 250SX West Class Main Event
  • MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado to race Anaheim 2 after an 11th-place result

Barcia collected the 12th fastest time in a tight 450SX qualifying session this afternoon, before racing his way to a solid fourth-place result in his Heat Race on the slick surface following constant rainfall in the area throughout the day.

Launching out of the gates on board his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition in the Main Event, Barcia was inside the top three immediately as he began battling for the lead, shadowing the leaders as the race progressed. In what was a grueling encounter, he posted a calculated ride as the race wore on, with the number 51 sealing the third position.

Justin Barcia: “San Diego was a crazy day! We only had two practices, as the weather came in, so I qualified decent, but not where I wanted to be. Although, I kept a cool head and got through the Heat Race with a solid result. Main Event, I knew it was going to be gnarly – the track broke down a lot! I got off to an okay start, found second behind Aaron [Plessinger], and then missed the triple one lap, which let Cooper [Webb] get by me. Came in with a lonely third place, but super-stoked after last week and knowing that my health is nearly back to 100 percent.”

DiFrancesco commenced Round 3 by posting the seventh-fastest qualifying time in 250SX West, which the youthful Californian would back up with fourth place in his Heat Race as he geared up for the night’s Main Event.

A mid-field start followed by a consistent ride on a brutal track surface saw DiFrancesco piece together a race that saw him take the checkered flag in P9, as he navigated the treacherous conditions inside Snapdragon Stadium.

Ryder DiFrancesco: “Good weekend overall! I need to fix little mistakes that are keeping me from being upfront, but lots of positives to take away as we head into Anaheim again next weekend.”

San Diego marked another consistent night of Supercross racing for defending MXGP World Champion Prado, whose third-career AMA Supercross event yielded the capable young Spaniard a sixth-place finish in his Heat Race for a direct transfer into the Main Event.

Prado would follow that up with an 11th-place finish in the premier class Main Event, and the good news is that he and the Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team have made the decision for him to remain in the U.S. and line up again at Anaheim 2 next Saturday.

Jorge Prado: “Today was another good experience. It was again not too easy after getting a bad start in the Main Event... I think the jump out of the gate was okay, but I got a lot of wheel spin, which sent me backward and meant I was one of the last to the first corner. My opening laps weren’t great, and then I got confused with the blue flags and let the riders who I was battling with by me, which was a pity. It is what it is, I can improve with my opening lap intensity, but I’m excited for three Main Events next weekend in the Triple Crown at A2 as I would like to at least be able to make one holeshot and enjoy that format of racing!”

PROMISE ON SHOW FOR TROY LEE DESIGNS/RED BULL/GASGAS FACTORY RACING IN TOUGH SAN FRANCISCO CONDITIONS

View Profile

The second round of the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship marked a mixed night out for the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team, with 450SX contender Justin Barcia salvaging points after battling through sickness this week, and Ryder DiFrancesco experiencing the highs and lows of racing in the 250SX West Class.

  • Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team’s battles in the mud of San Francisco
  • Ryder D earns first Heat Race victory before enduring difficulties in the Main Event
  • Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado raced to a 450SX Heat Race victory and seventh position

Round 2 marked a challenging night for Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing’s Barcia, who put in a warrior-like effort to endure the treacherous conditions while managing an illness. He qualified his way into the Main Event via the LCQ, where he would pilot his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition to 17th place.

Justin Barcia: “Crazy day here in San Francisco, crazy event. I got a serious sickness coming into this race, so I couldn’t ride or train, had to hit the hospital a couple of times, and I'm just really happy to be here. It was really tough with the weather, and unfortunately, my body was pretty hammered – made it hard on myself by going to the LCQ, but all-in-all it was a survival mode weekend for me. I'm happy to be in one piece and am looking forward to being healthy and putting my bike up front.”

DiFrancesco opened his San Francisco race day by posting the 13th-fastest time in the sole qualifying session, before rocketing out of the gates aboard his GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition in the second 250SX West Heat Race to the holeshot. Intent on checking out, DiFrancesco built a staggering 20-second margin between him and the second-place rider, sealing the first Heat Race win of his career in impressive fashion.

An unfortunate start to the Main Event for DiFrancesco had him buried deep in the field, with the Californian ultimately ending up with an unfortunate DNF in the mud.

Ryder DiFrancesco: “It was a good night here until it wasn’t! All day I felt good in the mud, I don’t know where that comes from – maybe Bakersfield when it’s muddy, but that’s once a year... It was good to get my first Heat Race win, which is a cool feeling! We have a bunch of stuff to work on, but good thing we get to line up again next weekend.”

Current MXGP World Champion Prado made his second AMA Supercross start in San Francisco with 12th in qualifying, quickly followed up by a massive Heat Race holeshot and a thrilling performance to secure the opening 450SX Heat Race victory. A measured ride during the Main Event saw the Spaniard claim a commendable seventh-place result.

Jorge Prado: “Second round is done, and I am very happy about everything. I feel like I got used to the format already after last weekend, which is a big adjustment for me, especially learning a new track in eight or nine laps. But hey, good start in the Heat and some good opening laps, stayed consistent, and got my first-ever Heat Race win! I was super happy about that because I’m not a big mud specialist, then in the Main Event the gate dropped very quickly, and I got a bad start. I slowly made my way through the field and only wanted to stay on the bike, that was my goal, so with seventh place, I am very happy.”

Consistent results for Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team at AMA Supercross season-opener

View Profile

AMA Supercross roared back into action at the famed Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, this Saturday, as the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team entered the fray with Justin Barcia securing seventh place in the 450SX ranks, with new recruit Ryder DiFrancesco taking ninth place in 250SX West.

  • Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team’s Justin Barcia finishes with seventh place at the season-opener
  • Ryder DiFrancesco races to ninth place in 250SX West Class on first outing with GASGAS
  • Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing's MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado delivers P13 in Supercross debut

The buzz surrounding the opening round was in the air as riders met for the first time in months, hitting the track for the opening qualifying session of the year eager to showcase the improvements made throughout the off-season. For Barcia, limited seat time following his recovery from injury saw him land P13, equipped his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition.

Fifth position in his Heat Race earned Barcia a direct transfer into the Main Event, where he would charge hard all race long inside the top 10 and translate his pace into a seventh-place result to begin his 2024 challenge

Justin Barcia: “Anaheim 1 was a stressful day and mostly because of the unknown... I didn’t have the strongest off-season I’ve ever had in my career, but I just used my veteran skills and had a good day! Qualifying wasn’t where I wanted to be, but I kept a cool head and had a decent Heat Race. And then in the Main Event, I made some good passes there and then had a good battle with Chase [Sexton], Aaron [Plessinger], and a couple of other guys, then tightened up a little bit at the end there. All-in-all, I was happy to get a top 10 and the goal for the season is to build as we go.”

Piloting his GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition for the first time in race conditions, DiFrancesco was on the gas from the outset, improving from 11th in qualifying and racing to a sixth-place finish in the opening 250SX Heat Race of the year.

A top-10 start saw DiFrancesco battling for position throughout the entirety of the Main Event, pushing hard to move his way up the order. Ninth place was the result by the conclusion of the race, banking a solid amount of points and experience as the series next heads to San Francisco.

Ryder DiFrancesco: “It was a good night for A1, the first round is always a bit nerve-wracking, and it’s just the little things, like making it through the Heat Race into the Main Event. They’re things that no one really thinks about, so that was a huge check-off for me, and I know I have a lot more in me! Ninth isn’t where I want to be, but I ran fifth or sixth for half the race and I’m now stoked for San Francisco.”

Lining up for his first career start in 450SX, all eyes were on defending MXGP World Champion Jorgo Prado as the Spaniard debuted in the tight confines of Supercross. After posting the ninth-fastest qualifying time, The Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing rider signaled his intentions early, and a solid eighth place in his Heat Race resulted in a direct transfer to the Main Event.

Prado powered out of the gates to one of his patented fast starts in the Main Event, mixing it up amongst the top Supercross riders in the world as he battled for position. Noting the track deterioration during the race, he gained invaluable experience under the lights of Angel Stadium, and finished in 13th place.

Jorge Prado: “First-ever Supercross race is done, and what an experience! It’s so different from what I am used to, and it was just a day of building. I felt good in practice every time, and then the night show the track was so different. I’m used to riding the test tracks with a harder base and different whoops, so every time I tried to go through these ones, they were so different, which made it difficult and unpredictable. I didn’t find a good flow in the Main Event, but got a good start. I think next week we will move in the right direction, especially with having one race under my belt, and P13 I think is not a bad start.”

Defending MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado to open 2024 season with AMA Supercross cameo

View Profile

A two-week shakedown in Southern California training at RD Field is all it took for defending MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado to make the decision to try his hand at AMA Supercross, set to make a fascinating cameo appearance across the opening three rounds of the 2024 season.

  • MXGP World Champion to make AMA Supercross Championship debut in 2024
  • Partnering with the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team
  • Planning to line up in 450SX Class at Anaheim 1, San Francisco and San Diego

That's right, our Spanish sensation is in for Anaheim 1, San Francisco and San Diego this coming January, equipped with the GASGAS MC 450F in what will be his first-ever American Supercross start – straight into the premier 450SX ranks on debut. And we're stoked to see it!

Fresh from clinching the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship in the MXGP category, which was a milestone achievement for both himself and GASGAS with the Davide De Carli-managed squad, Jorge had expressed his lifelong dream of sampling the sport of Supercross – and potentially making a 450SX start! – in the United States.

From there, accompanied by a blitz of media attention throughout his brief off-season excursion, the capabilities of the the talented 22-year-old were evident from the outset while applying his craft within the tighter confines of training on a full-scale supercross track layout.

Together between Jorge, his regular Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team and the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team, it was decided that he will go on to contest the opening three rounds of the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship in a bid to gain experience via a series of gate-drops and race mileage in the U.S. during what will still be the Grand Prix off-season.

Jorge Prado: “Since I started riding my dream has always been to one day race in the U.S., specifically to race Supercross. I have watched it my whole life on television and always thought it must be great to race under lights with a huge crowd and atmosphere! And more specifically, it must be great to race at an iconic stadium like Angel Stadium. I was lucky enough in 2015, while visiting and training in the U.S., to go to Anaheim 1 – it was a great experience and made me want to try it even more. So given I won the MXGP title this year and am totally healthy and looking for a new challenge, I thought it was the perfect time in my career to come and train in USA properly to prepare for a few Supercross races. I don’t want to waste another whole year wondering if I could or should, so I am here and I am going to try it out. I’m really looking forward to it and am lucky enough to have the full support of my Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team back home with Claudio and Davide de Carli, and the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team here in the USA behind me.”

Roger De Coster (Director of Motorsports, North America): “The main goal for Jorge in 2024 is to defend the world title he earned this past season, but of course we are excited to see what he can do on a Supercross track. We all know that he is very talented, given he’s already a multiple times Motocross World Champion, having won in MX2 and being the current MXGP Champion. However, we also know that Supercross at the highest level is extremely competitive and to race with the top here requires a lot of toughness besides talent, so this will be a huge challenge for him. We wish him the very best and are glad that with the support of TLD GASGAS we are able to support his wishes to try Supercross!”

Davide De Carli (Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager): “Jorge fulfilled his dream in Europe to become MXGP World Champion this year and we are so proud of him. His desire now is to train in the U.S. and to try Supercross, because he hasn't had the opportunity until now and from our side he completely deserves it. We, as a team, along with Pit Beirer and Robert Jonas have been completely open since day one with Jorge about giving him the opportunity to race Supercross and we will support him from Europe! We can’t wait to see him line up at A1 as it’s important for him to race those first three rounds to clarify in his mind where his racing future is, as he’s still really young and can try it out. It’s also good winter training for him before the start of the MXGP season, where his goal is to defend his number one plate in 2024. Good luck, Jorge!”

Following his scheduled three-round appearance in the 2024 AMA Supercross Championship, Jorge will return to Europe and prepare for his MXGP World Championship defense, which will open at the MXGP of Patagonia-Argentina on March 10, 2024.

Beach cruiser meets bold moto style – GASGAS has raised the bar with the first bike in the urban cruiser segment to develop a contemporary styling with supermoto aesthetics. Where traditionally urban bikes follow function over form, the GASGAS MOTO proves you can have both with its unique and daring style.

Ensuring simplicity in design, the durable, and very red, steel frame creates a relaxed riding position that’s ‘one-size fits-all’ thanks to its extra-long bench seat. 20” wheels compliment the look and feel of this two-wheeled party bike!

But we felt that wasn’t enough. So, we’ve upped the potential of this one-size-fits-all urban cruiser to create even more fun for the North American markets. Available in two options, both the MOTO 1 and the MOTO 2 feature the strong, reliable, and super powerful rear hub H550 motor by renowned manufacturer Bafang.

Class 2 pedal-assisted with throttle grip up to 20mp/h, the MOTO 1 features a peak power output of 500W with a maximum torque of 70Nm. For thrill seekers we’ve pushed the excitement levels even more with the MOTO 2. Also Class 2, its power output is increased to 750W.

Both the MOTO 1 and MOTO 2 are equipped removable batteries for ease of charging. The MOTO 1 comes with a 504 Wh battery, while the higher-powered MOTO 2 features a 672 Wh battery. A compact, handlebar mounted display unit, with Bluetooth allows further tuning and customization possibilities.

Coming in hot for 2024 with a rad lineup of 450 and 250 riders, this year’s squad is fully locked in with Max Lee as Team Manager for the second year. Adding style and flare to the team’s aesthetics, we’re proud to continue our successful relationship with Troy Lee Designs (TLD) for another three years. As a longtime partner of the KTM Group and our motorsports efforts, TLD was a founding force of GASGAS Factory Racing’s entry into U.S. SX/MX racing and we couldn’t be more proud of where the team is after three seasons together.

Troy Lee: "I feel super privileged to continue our partnership with GASGAS for our race team. GASGAS is becoming more technical and advanced than ever before, not only on the motorcycle front but with bicycles too, which has been an amazing opportunity for me to collaborate on both. I am proud to team up with Stefan Pierer and the entire KTM Group for its factory efforts. I’m stoked to go racing with the coolest team on the coolest bikes. Let's go 2024!”

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager, Max Lee: “I am very excited for the 2024 race season. We have a new 250 rider who joined the group and we are already in full swing training for A1. It’s been a blast getting to work with these guys and I’d like to thank everyone from GASGAS and Troy Lee Designs for the support and plan to have an outstanding next year with this team. We have a lot of positives to take away from the ‘23 season and we plan to keep building this off-season and be fighting for race wins come January!”

In the premier class, Justin Barcia is back in action for ’24 aboard the MC 450F Factory Edition. Barcia claimed six podium finishes in his ’23 450SX campaign, one of which was a win at East Rutherford, New Jersey and he’s hungry for more! Most recently on the mend from collarbone surgery, Barcia is taking the time to properly heal so he can come out swinging when the gate drops for A1 in January.

As a longtime TLD athlete and original member of the GASGAS Factory squad, Pierce Brown is back for his fourth season on the MC 250F Factory Edition. Brown ended the SX season with three top-fives in the Western division, but bad luck kept him off the box and on the sideline for the first half of the outdoor season. For ’24, Brown is feeling fresh and ready to get on the gas!

The team’s newest recruit, Ryder DiFrancesco, is underway with pre-season prep on his new MC 250F Factory Edition as he eagerly awaits his rookie 250SX campaign with a brand-new team and set up. At 18 years old, Ryder D is ready to prove that age is just a number in the big leagues!

Justin Barcia: “I always look forward to these team events, the crew always finds a good location and we have a lot of fun and hang out with the team. Going into ‘24, I’m amped! I had some signs of brilliance in ‘23 SX but unfortunately, I had a little bit of tough luck. I’m just looking forward to improving all the things I worked on in ‘23 that I wasn’t able to fully show and if I would have put everything together a little earlier and not had a couple injuries we would have been in that fight. Obviously, the bike is really good, the team is really good and I’m looking forward to having a really fun season with my family, of course, watching my son grow up but also going out there and fighting for those wins and the championship. Can’t wait!”

Pierce Brown: “I’m excited for the 2024 season! I’ve been feeling really good on the bike and I’m excited to get some redemption in the supercross and motocross seasons.”

Ryder DiFrancesco: “I am excited to go racing in 2024 with an all-new look! I have always wanted to race for Troy since I went to my first-ever Supercross race and I’ve been having so much fun with the team and learning the new bike.”

To celebrate the GASGAS MOTO dropping into North American dealers, we’re hosting a public event in the heart of Huntington Beach, Calif. and you’re invited! We’ll also have some MOTO demo bikes to test ride too. So, come and find us at Sahara SandBar and we’ll tell you more. Bring Your Heat!

With the GASGAS MOTO 1 already available at North American dealers, availability for its MOTO 2 sibling will resume in the weeks to come.

SAM SUNDERLAND WITHDRAWS FROM RALLYE DU MAROC FOLLOWING STAGE ONE

View Profile

After putting in a courageous effort to complete the opening stage at the 2023 Rallye du Maroc, Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing’s Sam Sunderland has made the difficult decision to withdraw from the event. Unable to race at 100% following his pre-race crash, Sam, with the support of the whole team, will now focus on getting back to full fitness before beginning to prepare for the upcoming Dakar Rally in January 2024.

It’s been a challenging year for Sam. Following a highly successful 2022 season where he claimed his second-career Dakar Rally victory, the Brit went on to be crowned FIM World Rally-Raid Champion. But in racing, anything can happen, and the cards certainly didn’t fall Sam’s way in 2023. Heal up soon, Sam, and we’ll see you at Dakar ‘24.

Andreas Hölzl – Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager: “This is for sure not the way we wanted to end the season with Sam, but as he’s still suffering from his pre-race crash, it was the right decision for him to withdraw after stage one. Everyone at Red bull GASGAS Factory Racing supports his decision and now Sam will rest, recover, and begin focusing on the upcoming Dakar Rally in January.”

Ryder DiFrancesco to get on the gas in 2024 with Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing

View Profile

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing has signed Ryder DiFrancesco for the 2024 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) season, spanning the AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross Championships, as well as the high-profile SMX Finals series.

  • Ryder D is GASGAS-bound for 2024 onboard the MC 250F Factory Edition
  • Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing lands talented teenage prospect
  • 2024 season will mark DiFrancesco's first in 250SX regional division

Still just 18 years of age, Ryder D is regarded as one of the sport's finest young talents in U.S. competition, emerging from a highly-decorated amateur career into the professional ranks this year with immediate promise and a share of encouraging results.

The 2024 season will see DiFrancesco line up for his rookie 250SX campaign – the specific region yet to be determined – when the gates drop on Supercross early next year, in addition to his second term of lining up outdoors in 250MX, and the SMX post-season.

Max Lee, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager: "We're super-excited to have Ryder DiFrancesco join the team for the 2024 racing season. He has a lot of talent and a good work ethic, so I think he’s a great fit for the group and the GASGAS brand!"

After beginning this year in Supercross Futures, Ryder went on to contest the entire Pro Motocross Championship, achieving four top 10 overall results in 11 rounds, and a season-best of sixth at Ironman Raceway's final round, which earned him 10th place in the standings.

DiFrancesco continued that form at SMX Playoff 1 in Charlotte, where he finished fourth overall, and would eventually race to 12th position in the 250SMX Championship. Now, the opportunity to GET ON THE GAS arrives, and the teenager is eager to take on fresh challenges in a new environment, equipped with the razor-sharp MC 250F Factory Edition.

Ryder DiFrancesco: "I am very excited to make the transition to the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team for my first full professional season! I’m ready for new challenges and learning a new bike, which is the exciting part of what's ahead together."

Pierce Brown scores highest finish of SMX World Championship season

Visiting the birthplace of Supercross, the Los Angeles Coliseum, the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team was looking for strong finishes to close out the SuperMotocross playoffs.

  • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing was a beehive of activity all day long as this is close to their home turf

  • Justin Barcia had a tough end to his ’23 campaign

  • Pierce Brown had his best race of the SMX Playoffs

Pierce Brown stepped things up for the final round of the SMX Playoff, qualifying in third position, and setting himself with a great gate pick for the night’s racing. When the gate dropped for the first moto, he rounded the first turn in 13th aboard his MC 250F Factory Edition, picked off a few spots on the first lap, and powered his way up to eighth by the checkered flag.

For the second moto, he was 11th around the first turn, and sixth by the time they finished the first lap, and fifth at the finish. That gave him seventh overall for the night, and 11th overall in the series.

Pierce Brown: “The last round of SuperMotocross is done and dusted. All around it was a pretty good day. I qualified good. In moto one I had a bad start, but I ended up eighth. In moto two I got a better start, and I ended up fifth so I was happy with that. I feel like I was riding good all day...I'm happy with it. I'm ready to take some time off and then get back to work. "

For Justin Barcia, his night was spectacular, but unfortunately, far too brief. Justin has had a string of great starts during the SMX Playoffs, and that continued in the Coliseum, as he powered his MC 450F Factory Edition into second as he rounded the first turn. He had made a pass for the lead on the first lap, but a hard crash immediately after that put an end to his night. He finished his season in seventh overall among the 450 class competitors.

The second round of the SuperMotocross Playoffs gave the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team a chance to rebound from a tough first round, and they found a very fast and flowing circuit at Chicagoland Speedway.

    • Double points meant double opportunity for the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team

    • Justin Barcia scored a 4-10 for sixth overall

    • Pierce Brown tallied a pair of 11th-place finishes for 11th overall

    450

Once again showing starting prowess and the power of his MC 450F Factory Edition, Justin Barcia rounded the first turn in the top three. He briefly moved to second before being passed by a pair of riders who moved him to his eventual fourth-place finishing spot. In the second moto, he once again rounded the first turn in the top two, despite starting well on the outer half of the gate. Unfortunately, a crash in the sand section dropped him to 11th, and he was only able to pick up one spot before the finish. Still, his 4-10 moto finishes were good for sixth overall, and he currently holds down the seventh spot in the 450 standings.

Justin Barcia: “Chicagoland was a good day. I had good qualifying sessions, I was feeling good and had a good first moto. In the second moto I had a crash in the sand, and I was pretty stacked up from there, I couldn't really make any passes and struggled a little after that. That was a tough second moto. But the first moto was really good so we had a few positives this weekend and I'm looking forward to getting back to California, doing a little bit of work before the last race, and going out with a good last race at the L.A. Coliseum.”

For Pierce Brown and his MC 250F Factory Edition, his day was all about 11th. Two 11th-place finishes resulted in an 11th overall.

Pierce Brown: “I felt a little under the weather all day. I just didn't have what I needed, so we're just going to rest up and get ready for the last round."

Justin Barcia wraps up MX season with a top-five moto finish at Ironman

The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team wrapped up a tough injury-plagued outdoor season at Ironman Raceway in Crawfordsville, Indiana, with a goal of building momentum for the upcoming inaugural SuperMotocross playoffs.

    • Despite missing nine races, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing’s Justin Barcia goes into the playoff races in the tenth overall spot; while Pierce Brown is the 15th ranked 250 rider after missing seven races

    • Justin Barcia had an 11-5 score at Ironman for seventh overall

    • Pierce Brown’s 17-10 moto scores gave him 13th overall for the day

    250 MX

After qualifying just outside the top ten of the talent-laden 250 class, Pierce Brown’s first moto got off to a rough start when he went down with a cluster of riders in the second turn. After remounting his MC 250F Factory Edition, he made his way back to 17th. In moto two, he got off to a better start and was 14th at the end of the first lap. From there, he picked off four riders, making his way to tenth at the finish.

Pierce Brown: “The first moto was a little bit rough. I got tangled up with some riders after the start which was unfortunate. I had to start from basically dead last, and was able to make it up to 17th. Not a good moto, but I was happy with my riding. In moto two it wasn't a great start or a terrible start, but I was able to make some passes and ended up tenth. So, for how the last couple motos have been I'm pretty happy with how I rode in moto two and how it went so hopefully we're building some momentum for the SuperMotocross rounds."

    450 MX

In his third race back since returning to action, Justin Barcia qualified tenth aboard his MC 450F Factory Edition on the fast and flowing Ironman circuit. Unfortunately, a crash early in moto one dropped him deep into the 40-rider pack. He salvaged what he could for the moto by charging his way back to 11th at the finish. In moto two, a much better start had him running in the top four, and he dropped one spot to finish fifth at the checkers.

Justin Barcia: “I had a tough first moto. I got into a little pile-up and came back to 11th. It definitely wasn't happy with that. In the second moto, I had a decent start and rode really hard. I found some decent lines, had a good flow going, and ended up fifth. I was definitely happier with the second moto considering where I was at a couple weeks ago to now. Not bad, but I definitely have a lot of work to do. I'm looking forward to SuperMotocross and getting back to my winning self.”

Justin Barcia gets back on the gas at Budds Creek

    View Profile

The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team has been playing a bit of catch-up through the latter part of the Pro Motocross season since both Pierce Brown and Justin Barcia were injured and couldn’t put in a lot of work on bike setup before the team headed outdoors. But with a press day to experiment, and two solid motos for Justin, the weekend proved productive.

    • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing used this round as a test session to get caught up on their setup for the remaining races in the outdoor season, as well as preparation for the upcoming SuperMotocross playoffs

    • Justin Barcia finished fifth overall with a 4-5 score

    • Pierce Brown had a tough day with crashes and finished with a 15-24 tally

    450 MX

Considering that Justin Barcia was in only his second race back aboard his MC 450F Factory Edition since returning from injury, he put in an impressive ride in moto one. Justin was among the leaders heading into the first turn but slipped into third spot by the end of the first lap. Battling with other competitors throughout the moto, he dropped to as low as sixth place but worked back to finish fifth at the finish, hot on the rear wheel of the fourth-place finisher. In moto two, Justin was third off the line and made a great move into the second corner to nail down the second position. He stayed there for a couple of laps before slipping to third, where he remained for much of the moto as he battled other riders. With six laps to go, he was passed and moved to fourth, where he finished.

Justin Barcia: “It was definitely a more productive day here at Budds Creek. I qualified sixth after two good practices, and we kind of used this weekend as a testing session. It's hard coming back after being unable to test and do everything you need to do to prepare for the Nationals. Everyone has a lot of races under their belts, so we used press day as a test session, and then we changed the suspension going into the first moto. It worked out well for us today. We had two good starts, and battled up front in both motos. All in all I was extremely happy with where I'm at for not being able to train or anything. This is like only my fourth 30-minute moto since I started riding again, so considering that, I'm quite happy. We'll keep plugging along and working hard. I'm looking forward to Indiana and we'll keep building for SuperMotocross.”

    250 MX

With a deep and talented field, Pierce Brown was just outside of the top ten in the first moto aboard his MC 250F Factory Edition. But a bobble on lap two dropped him into the mid-20s for position, so the rest of the moto was spent working forwards to 15th. A tangle off the line in moto two put Pierce deep into the pack, and from there it was a battle to climb back to 24th.

Pierce Brown: “It was a tough day for sure. I qualified decent in Q1, and in Q2 I struggled. After that I just couldn't find my flow. In moto one I got a bad start and fell a couple laps in. When I restarted, I was in a pack of guys that weren't moving forward, and I couldn't move through them so it was tough. In moto two I tangled with a rider right out of the gate and I got the worst end of the stick on that one. It's racing. We'll bounce back next week at Ironman."

It's back to business for Justin Barcia at Unadilla

    View Profile

After being focused solely on the 250 class since the start of the Pro Motocross series, the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team team was pumped to have entries in both classes at Unadilla.

    • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing crew was excited to welcome back Justin Barcia at the famed Unadilla course

    • Justin had a rough return to action, with a crash-caused DNF in moto one, and a battle through the pack in moto two.

    • Pierce Brown scored another top ten 250 overall with a 12-11 day

    450 MX

After sitting out the first eight rounds of the Pro Motocross series following an injury late in the Supercross series, it was back to business for Justin Barcia at his “home” race in Unadilla. He showed off excellent speed early in the day as he qualified in fourth position aboard his MC 450F Factory Edition.

Unfortunately, a crash in the first turn of moto one damaged his clutch lever, and the team opted to remove it. After another crash later in the moto, Justin opted to head back to the pits.

After starting just inside the top 20 in moto two despite another tangle on lap one, Justin methodically picked his way to 14th, making the most of his race to prep for future events.

Justin Barcia: “The day started off really well. I was really having a good time and was going into the first moto with a lot of good vibes and good feels. Unfortunately, I got in a first-turn pile-up, and damaged my bike pretty bad. I tried to do a few laps but I ended up crashing again and had to pull her in and go back to the semi. So that was a shame for the first moto, not really the race I wanted coming back. In the second moto I had the far outside gate pick. I got off to a good jump, but pretty much had nowhere to go in the tight Unadilla first corner so I was pretty buried. I was charging through the third corner and got in another little pile-up and ended up going down. It was an extremely tough moto. That was my first 30 minute moto in a long time. So it was a tough day, but all-in-all it was very nice to be back at the races. We know we've got a lot of work to do and knew that this would be a good test for the future Supermotocross stuff. So we'll keep working and be back next week at Budds Creek.”

    250 MX

Pierce Brown ran inside the top ten for most of the first moto aboard his MC 250F Factory Edition before a crash late in the race dropped him to 12th. In moto two, he started in the low teens before eventually moving up to 11th. Consistency paid off, with an 10th overall.

Pierce Brown: “I had an all-right day, with tenth overall. I definitely want more. We struggled a little bit in both motos, just getting off the gate. I had to come from behind in both motos, especially the second one. In moto one I fell with a lap to go, so I lost some spots there. In moto two I had a charge. I made some pretty good passes with a couple laps to go to get myself in a better position. I'm happy, but I want more. We're going to push to build for the rest of the season."

Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing's Justin Barcia back on track for Unadilla

    View Profile

This weekend's ninth round of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship at Unadilla will see Justin Barcia make a welcome return to action with Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing, marking his first outdoor appearance of the 2023 season.

    • Justin Barcia will be back behind the 450MX Class gates at Unadilla
    • Final three rounds of Pro Motocross will lead into SMX Championship
    • Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS thanks 250MX fill-in Caden Braswell

Barcia, who was recently on location at the GASGAS Spice It Up Festival in Italy to help introduce the 2024 range, will be back on track riding his MC 450F Factory Edition across the final three rounds of the outdoor season and is excited to build momentum over the course of the next three weeks.

Justin was initially injured toward the end of April in Nashville's AMA Supercross Championship round, with complications delaying his return. Despite sitting out the final stages of the 450SX season and missing the majority of Pro Motocross, the 31-year-old currently sits 10th in the combined SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) standings.

Justin Barcia: "It's been a process, for sure, a lot to think about. We're past the injury now after two surgeries, lots of training and a lot of recovery, so I'm definitely excited to come back at my home race in New York for the fans and myself, just to get out there. There are no expectations set because I've been off for a lot of months, so I just want to go out there and have fun and build. Obviously, as a racer, you always want to be competitive, but I just need to get back to the races and enjoy being around the team, as well as my family and friends there. Unadilla's going to be a cool race!"

With Barcia lining up alongside 250MX team regular Pierce Brown this Saturday at Unadilla, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing would like to thank fill-in rider Caden Braswell for his efforts throughout the opening eight rounds of the series.

Max Lee, Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager: "We are very excited to have Justin Barcia back racing with us at Unadilla. It’s been longer than we all expected for him to be returning to the races, but we are as excited as ever to have him alongside Pierce Brown this weekend. Without a ton of time that Justin has had on the bike, it looks like he hasn’t skipped a beat. I’m excited to bring him back to his home MX race of the season and hopefully bring some more excitement as well! Caden will no longer be joining us at the races this season. The team is very thankful for the opportunity to work with him and for keeping us racing, since for the first six rounds, he was our only rider. We wish him the best in the next step of his career and hope he can keep improving. See you at the races!"

Pierce Brown grabs tenth overall at Washougal MX

    View Profile

Heading into round eight of the Pro Motocross season, the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team was looking to post some solid results ahead of a two-week break.

    • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing crew was ready to rock in the Pacific Northwest on the famed Washougal circuit

    • Pierce Brown was in his second race back and turned in his best results of the season

    • Caden Braswell has moved to 11th in the overall season standings

    250 MX

Pierce Brown was in his second race back since returning from injury and showed improved speed on his MC 250F Factory Edition. A 12th in moto one after a crash, and an 11th in moto two resulted in a tenth overall for the day.

Pierce Brown: “Not the best day, but we ran the pace for a little bit with the guys in the first moto. While in eighth or ninth I was behind Shimoda trying to match his laps and made a mistake jumping into the sand. I ended up crashing pretty hard and I ended up 12th. In moto two I think I ran in sixth for about half the moto. The track was gnarly today and it kind of beat me up. I was still shaken from the crash and ended up fading. I don't know what place I got, but I ended up tenth overall. Better than last weekend, but we definitely want more."

For Caden Braswell, a 15-13 afternoon was good for 12th overall, and he boosted up a spot in the overall 250 series standings to 11th place.

Caden Braswell: “Washougal was better than last weekend but not where I want to be. Strengths were the end of the motos; I felt strong and my fitness was there. Overall, I just need to improve my qualifying and sprint speed. As always, thanks to the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team."

Pierce Brown returns to action at Spring Creek MX

    View Profile

It’s been a lonely summer for Caden Braswell for much of the Pro Motocross season, as the Floridian has been the lone healthy GASGAS Factory rider for much of the season. But the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team was at double-strength for Spring Creek MX, with the return of Pierce Brown to the lineup.

    • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing was ready to take on the challenge of the sand whoops and hills on the Spring Creek course

    • Pierce Brown made Spring Creek his debut race of the Pro Motocross season after returning from injury

    • Caden Braswell was excited to not be the lone rider in the rig this weekend

    250 MX

For his first race of the outdoor season, Pierce Brown picked a tough one. He was 11th off the line aboard his MC 250F Factory Edition, and he climbed to ninth at the finish. In moto two, he came off the gate well and was up to seventh place, before a crash and technical issue caused him to slip to 16th at the finish, leaving him 12th overall for his return to action.

Pierce Brown: “For the first race back at Millville the first race back I had some fun. I'm finally out here racing with the boys and the first moto was quiet but solid with a ninth. The second moto started a little better. That uphill triple is big. I tried it one time, cased it, and came to a stop. After that, I got to the top of the hill, tucked the front end, and fell. But after that, I got up and felt like I was riding really good. I caught back up to the pack that passed me. But overall, for the first race back it was a fun one. I get to go to Washougal next week, which is one of my favorite tracks on the circuit, so I'm excited for that one."

For moto one, Caden was 13th off the line, and while he climbed as high as 11th during the moto in the highly competitive class, he eventually returned to 13th at the finish. During the second moto he battled inside the top 15, but a crash dropped him to 23rd in the moto, and 17th overall for the day.

Caden Braswell: “Out here at Spring Creek it was a beautiful day. God gave us some great weather this weekend. We had an awesome track, and the team did a great job. We had two bikes (on track) this weekend, which was awesome. It was nice to have a teammate. These were not the results I was wanting, but we'll come out swinging in Washougal."

Braswell breaks into the top ten at Southwick

The rough and sandy track in Southwick, Massachusets, is always a challenge for both man and machine, which makes it perfect for the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team.

    • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing hit the hallway point of the Pro Motocross season at the toughest track of the year

    • Caden Braswell showed continued improvement his best pro finishes to date

    • Good news! The team is expecting Pierce Brown to be back in action next week

    250 MX

Caden Braswell  and his MC 250F Factory Edition came into Southwick looking to continue the upward trajectory of his rookie season. When the gate dropped for moto one, he was in 16th position at the end of lap one, and he steadily worked his way steadily, finishing ninth by moto’s end. He backed that up with a 12th in moto two, giving him a solid tenth overall for the day, the first time he’d cracked the top ten overall.

Caden Braswell: “Out here at Southwick it was a fun one. I got to do some sand surfing and had a blast with the team. We got our best result of the season so far. I'm happy to be putting the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS machine in the top ten, but I'm hungry for more and super-grateful for the opportunity."

The Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing team ventured to an all-new venue in Lombok, Indonesia, for today's round of the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship. The man-made facility marked the conclusion of the Asian excursion and another successful race for the GASGAS duo; Jorge Prado and Simon Längenfelder got on the gas to gain trophies in their respective classes.

    • Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing finish the Asian adventure.
    • Jorge Prado extends his gap in the championship standings.
    • Simon Längenfelder climbs back on the MX2 overall podium.

Jorge Prado took full advantage of the Grand Prix of Lombok-Indonesia and added another two points to his championship advantage. Prado won the qualification heat, which has become a specialty of his, before really shining in the first moto today. '61' started third in the heat and put on quite a charge to claim the lead with just two laps remaining! It was a brilliant showing and backed up with a second in the final stint, which placed him second in the event's overall classification. Prado is one hundred and three points clear in the championship standings – eight rounds remain now that the eleventh fixture is complete.

Jorge Prado: "It has been a good weekend. We extended our championship lead as well, but the most important thing is that we are riding well. We won the qualification heat and moto one – it is always good to do that. I am really looking forward to the next two rounds that are coming up. I won Loket in 2021 and always enjoy Lommel."

Still less than two months on from the arm injury that he sustained in May, Simon Längenfelder impressed at the Grand Prix of Lombok-Indonesia. '516' pushed into fifth in moto one, despite a mistake, and shined in the second stint. Ending lap one in fourth, he charged up to second and was just seven seconds shy of the winner when the checkered flag flew. 5-2 scores put him third in the overall classification and helped him maintain eighth in the championship standings.

Simon Längenfelder: "It is so good to be back on the podium. Not many people expected this, including me! I was fifth in the first race and did not think about the podium after that. I was happy to stay consistent in the second race. Now we will work on the weekend off and keep getting stronger."

Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing will make the long trip back to their base in Europe now, before resetting and tackling round twelve of the 2023 FIM Motocross World Championship in Czechia.

Braswell brings home season-best results at Thunder Valley

    View Profile

Gravity has been extremely tough on the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing team through the latter part of the Supercross season and during the start of the Pro Motocross tour, with the 250 duo of Michael Mosiman and Pierce Brown still on the mend. On the 450 side, Justin Barcia had intended on trying to return to action, but a setback with a cracked collarbone plate put him back on the sidelines. That left 250 rookie Caden Braswell as the lone team rider heading into Thunder Valley.

    • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing was extra-lean, with a single 250 riders lining up
    • Caden Braswell scored his season-best by every measure…qualifying, moto finishes, and overall
    • Mastering the tough, extremely rutted track proved to be a good confidence booster for Braswell

    250 MX

With Michael Mosiman still sidelined after a tough crash at Hangtown, and Pierce Brown still on the mend, it was up to Caden Braswell to hold it down for the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing team. Despite the extreme challenges provided by the Thunder Valley course, Braswell turned in his best results of the season. He bettered his previous best qualifying position on his MC 250F Factory Edition by six spots. He also improved his finish in each moto by several spots, scoring a solid 12-12 day for 12thoverall. In moto one he ran inside the top ten for nearly half the moto, giving him a better look at the pace of the front-runners.

" I wasn't really happy with the results from Hangtown, so we worked hard this week and rode with some more confidence. I felt a lot more loose and free on the bike, and enjoyed the longer ruts here at Thunder Valley,” said Braswell. “I'm looking forward to some more good starts, more long ruts, and some good dirt at High Point."

Hangtown tough on the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team

The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team headed to California's Gold Country hoping to turn around their recent racing fortunes.

    • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing was running lean and mean again in Northern California with a 250-only roster

    • Michael Mosiman had a 14-40 day after a tough crash in moto two
    • Caden Braswell continued his four-race fill-in roll with the team

    250 MX

Michael Mosiman was on home turf at Hangtown and he was looking for a solid result aboard his MC 250F Factory Edition. Unfortunately, a 14th-place finish in moto one proved to be the high water mark for him and the team, as a tough crash in moto two ended his day. Updates on his status for future events will be provided after he gets checked out by his doctors.

The team’s other rider, Caden Braswell, tallied a 27-16 day for 19th overall. That matched his result from round one at Pala.

"Out here at Hangtown, we had a progressive day,” said Braswell. “We've got some things to look back on, and also some good things to take away. My confidence is growing on the bike and with the team. I'm surrounded by great people and I'm looking forward to the third round in Colorado with a big old fire in my belly."

Michael Mosiman returns to action at Pro Motocross season opener

    View Profile

The 2023 AMA Supercross season proved rough on the Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team rider roster, so it was a two-rider all-250 effort that lined up for the opening round of the Pro Motocross Championship in Pala, California.

    • Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing 450MX regulars Justin Barcia and Pierce Brown continue to recover from injuries sustained late in the AMA Supercross Championship.

    • Michael Mosiman returned to action after sitting out much of the 250 East Supercross season
    • After previous success with the GASGAS amateur program, Caden Braswell joined the team for the first four rounds

    250 MX

After injuries earlier in the season, Michael Mosiman was back in the saddle of his MC 250F Factory Edition, but still in rebuilding mode. He scored a 19th in moto one and made some adjustments for moto two and came home with a tenth-place finish.

Michael Mosiman: “This was the first round for me after quite a long time off. It's been a lot of hard work to build back, and today was just another step in that process. I would have liked to finish better but there are some building steps and some things that we improved. We made big improvements to the bike in the second moto and I felt a lot more comfortable. That allowed me to put together clean laps. I'm excited for the future and to head to Hangtown and get after it.”

Caden’s first crack at the Pro Motocross series resulted in a pair of 18th-place moto finishes in an extremely stacked field.

Caden Braswell: "I'm super grateful for the opportunity. Pala was an amazing experience for my first Pro Motocross National. I'm absolutely thrilled to have done it with the Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GASGAS team. The team was amazing...super-hard working and encouraging. I'm disappointed in my results because I know the bike and I are capable of so much more. I'm going to keep my head up pulling into Hangtown and strive to do better."

Barcia masters the mud in East Rutherford Supercross

    View Profile

The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team had to wait out a lightning delay and deal with a downpour, but the results were worth it as Justin Barcia took the 450 main event win in extremely muddy conditions.

    • Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team records its first main event win of the 2023 AMA Supercross season

    • Justin Barcia was fast in his home race, whether in wet or dry conditions

    • Pierce Brown finished 11th in the 250 East/West Showdown

    450SX

Judging by the third place and second-place finishes at the previous rounds in Glendale and Atlanta, Justin and the team had high hopes heading into East Rutherford, NJ, located just outside New York City. Thunderstorms caused a delay for the scheduled start of the main events, and a steady downpour made a quagmire of the track. But after getting a strong start out of the gate, and sizing up the leader for the first six laps, Justin Barcia and his MC 450F Factory Edition took over the lead and stretched it to a 14-second advantage at the finish.

Justin Barcia: "I don't remember practice. I don't remember the heat race. But I remember that main event! I got out there and was battling with the boys, took the lead, rode away, and took the win. It was very special. The team crushed it, mud-prepped quick, and it was an awesome race. I don't really know what else to say because I'm very happy!”

    250SX East/West

For Pierce Brown and his MC 250F Factory Edition, the night was a bit more challenging. After qualifying fifth, and finishing fourth in his 250 West heat race in the dry conditions, things were looking good. Unfortunately, a midpack start, followed by a crash, resulted in an 11th-place finish.

Pierce Brown: “It wasn't an ideal night in New York. I did all right in the heat, with a fourth-place finish. We had a couple of hour delay before the main event. It rained hard, so the track was pretty wet when we got out there. I got off to an okay start...midpack. I was trying to go through the pack and collided with a rider about three or four laps into the race and fell. That set me back pretty far. I think I got up in last or second-to-last. After that I put a charge on and did all I could do and ended up 11th.”

JUSTIN BARCIA COMES OUT SWINGING AT ANAHEIM SX SEASON OPENER

    View Profile

The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team came to the AMA Supercross Championship season opener with their usual high hopes, a full off-season of preparation, and of course, Troy’s artistic touches for the rider’s helmets, bikes and gear. Racing aboard the all-new 2023 MC 450F and MC 250F Factory Edition bikes for the first time, both Justin Barcia and Pierce Brown came away with their fair share of ups and downs in Anaheim, California.

    • The Troy Lee Designs/Red Bull/GASGAS Factory Racing Team came in hot for the start of the 2023 season!
    • Barcia brings the speed with an amazing holeshot in the 450 main
    • Brown unfortunately suffered a race-ending crash in the 250SX West heat race

    450SX
Justin Barcia and Anaheim 1 are generally a solid match, and he’s had plenty of success (including wins and podiums) in previous years at the season opener. Another win looked like a definite possibility once again, as he quickly grabbed the holeshot aboard his GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition and jumped into the early lead. Unfortunately, after leading the first three laps ahead of last year’s champ, he had an off-track excursion that dropped him to the 11th spot.

Justin Barcia: "A1 is a wrap. The day started off pretty well. I felt good in the first practice but I struggled a little bit in the next two, just with feeling comfortable with the track, because it was very tricky with a lot of square edges and things like that. I made a big change before the heat race and unfortunately went in the wrong direction. So I went back to my base setting for the main event. Pretty much ripped the holeshot, led a few laps, made a huge mistake, and had a crash. I worked my way back up to like seventh and had another crash. So it was a difficult main event. We'll take a few positives from the day. We had a good start, and we had speed, we just need to keep it on two wheels and keep it simple and we'll be good. But the speed is there, the fitness is there, and the bike's there, so I'm happy with that and definitely put this result behind us and move forward."

    250SX West
Pierce Brown started off the day on the gas, qualifying in the third position. But a hard crash in his heat race proved to be the end of his evening. After being seen by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical crew, he was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. The good news is that he’s already been released, and is headed home.

The inaugural Indonesian Grand Prix at Mandalika saw GASGAS score points and a podium with Guevara and Garcia in Moto3, while Moto2 treated fans to high drama with a shortened race, with Albert Arenas finishing 10th and Jake Dixon retiring on lap five.

    • Izan Guevara secures second place at the 2022 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, his second ever podium in Moto3, while Sergio Garcia finishes 4th.
    • Jake Dixon takes pole position in Moto2 but falls from the race while Albert Arenas takes 10th position
    • GASGAS Aspar Team riders bag points and podiums in Moto2 and Moto3 at the inaugural Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika Circuit

Following in the wheel tracks of a breathless season opener in Qatar, the heat and intensity of the 2022 season continued full-gas with a visit to the new Mandalika Circuit. Set alongside the tropical coastline in Central Indonesia; it is the first time that the venue has hosted the MotoGP paddock.

Come race day searing yet ultra-humid temperatures, combined with tough physical racing, characterized the action across all classes. The 17-turn, 4.3 km (2.6 mi) layout boasts a deceptively technical smooth but grimy ribbon of asphalt alongside the crystal clear waters of Lombok; setting the scene for some high-paced action on a new-school track. In Moto3 the battle for the podium with Izan Guevara and Sergio Garcia raged from lights to flag.

Qualifying in 7th (Garcia) and 8th (Guevara) respectively, the Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team duo featured at the head of a wild 23-lap race. Taking advantage of the first real dry running of the weekend - with Moto3 having weathered on-off showers for all of its scheduled sessions through Friday and Saturday. Izan Guevara put it all on the line and proved once again that he has a bright future ahead of him on the world Grand Prix stage.

Guevara made a lightning start, jumping from 8th to 4th to 1st in the first two laps alone. Closely followed by teammate Garcia, the GASGAS powered duo were relentless, taking on all rivals over the full race distance. By the final flag Guevara secured second place - and his second ever podium in the class - in the wake of a runaway Dennis Foggia. Sergio Garcia narrowly missed out on final podium place, after taking hits from Andrea Migno and Carlos Tatay in the closing laps - finishing fourth by just one tenth of a second. The Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team now lead the Team championship standings by 61 points.

In Moto2 Jake Dixon led the Inde GASGAS Aspar Team effort by posting a blistering pole position securing lap during a sensational qualifying session on Saturday. Teammate Albert Arenas lined up on the second row in 6th place. A late curveball before the start saw the race shortened from 25 to 16 laps; meaning nothing short of maximum attack from lap one was the required strategy.

As the dark clouds rolled in however - bringing spots of rain - Dixon slipped down to 3rd place off the start fighting with rival Sam Lowes. Unfortunately on lap five, Dixon fell foul to the dwindling grip levels, dropping his machine in turn 10 and retiring from the race. Team mate Albert Arenas negotiated a solid outing, converting his 6th place grid slot into a top ten finish.

#11 - Sergio Garcia: “It was a positive day and a good race, where we pushed for the podium all the way. I felt strong on track but we were missing acceleration out of the corners, so I had to give everything I had to finish in fourth position. Anyway, these are important points for the championship and I’m happy.”

#28 - Izan Guevara: “I'm really happy for my first podium this year. Thanks to the team for all their work here at Mandalika in tough conditions. The pace was incredible as well as the battles in the group. In the last two laps I pushed and made it to P2.”

#75 - Albert Arenas: “Another race in the books, another near the top ten and more learning experience. The balance of the bike was good but I couldn’t get that comfortable on track and couldn’t push more. Tough conditions out there with the track and in certain corners but at least we had the race. Anyway we improved and can look ahead to Argentina to try and be better. We have potential.”

#96 - Jake Dixon: “I had a tricky start, and caught up to Sam [Lowes], and then passed him. Then I re-focused to try and chase down  [Somkiat] Chantra. I felt I had the pace to do that. When I got to turn ten, I braked in the same place I did every lap - even on the data I did everything identical to the lap before, but for some reason I lost the front. I’m incredibly annoyed at myself - I want to say sorry first of all to the team, they gave me the bike to win the race today and I wasn't able to back that up!”

Holgado brings it home! GASGAS lifts FIM Moto3™ Junior World Championship in Valencia

    View Profile

The GASGAS Aspar Junior team win the coveted ‘feeder’ championship to Grand Prix racing after Daniel Holgado ran to a safe 9th position in the first outing at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia last weekend.

    • Holgado locks the 2021 FIM Moto3 Junior world title in Valencia
    • The 16-year-old makes the grade after 5 wins and 8 podiums from 12 races
    • Success story for GASGAS with the Aspar team and Moto3 machinery this season

Riding the RC 250 GP machine taken to victory in Moto3 Grand Prix in 2021, Holgado showed he’s the next hotshot on the block by grabbing the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship ‘bull’ by the horns. The teenager fronted the pack with four wins in the first five rounds to stake his claim to the crown. The Spaniard added another three trophies in the competition that circled Grand Prix venues on the Iberian Peninsula like the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto and MotorLand Aragon.

The contest (along with the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup) has ritually been the brightest proving ground for youngsters aiming for the heights of MotoGP™. 2020 champion, Izan Guevara, made the step to the GASGAS Aspar Grand Prix squad and clinched a race win in his first season in 2021. Holgado kept the Aspar streak running on Saturday in Valencia when main title rival David Muñoz was forced to start from pitlane and failed to score any points. In the second race on Sunday Holgado swept to his fifth chequered flag, stamping his authority one more time.

Along with the FIM Moto3 Junior World Championship, GASGAS also aced four Moto3 Grands Prix (France, Catalunya, Austria and the USA) and totalled seven podium appearances this year.

Daniel Holgado: “I want to thank everyone who came to see me today, I owe all this to them because I really felt that support and it helped push me through those final few laps. I also want to thank all of my incredible team; I’ll really miss them next year and hope we can find each other again in the future. I’d like to congratulate David Muñoz and Iván Ortolá because they made a great season and were really strong rivals. It’s thanks to them that I was able to improve as a rider and also as a person by working hard day after day.”

Dutch Moto3™ podium delight for Sergio Garcia and the Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team

Sergio Garcia romped to a blistering second place podium finish after a thrilling 22 lap race at the 2021 Motul TT of Assen

The legendary Dutch circuit of Assen provided the perfect venue for Sergio Garcia and the Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team to showcase just why they are fighting for the top spots in the Moto3™ World Championship. Second place, and a haul of 20 points - cementing 2nd in the riders standings - went Garcia’s way after a breathless 22 laps.

    • Sergio Garcia races to his 3rd podium of the season, finishing 2nd at the 2021 Motul TT of Assen
    • Izan Guevara qualifies 13th and finishes 12th
    • Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team places second in the team championship standings after nine rounds of the 2021 Moto3 World Championship

There is almost no better feeling on a Grand Prix bike than going flat out on a bright and sunny day around one of the fastest, and the oldest venues of the MotoGP calendar. The legendary and sweeping Dutch TT circuit, known to fans as the Cathedral of Speed is a firm favourite for many riders, and the perfect venue to score points and experience some awesome racing. Sergio Garcia knows this - and showed fans exactly why he is destined for big things in the future - by racing to his third podium of the season so far.

The 18 year old Spanish young gun lined up in 4th position aboard his GASGAS RC 250 GP machine, and made short work of his rivals during the opening laps of the Dutch race. In what proved to be one of the overall fastest Grand Prix of the year so far - where lap records tumbled on multiple occasions - Garcia set the white hot pace amongst the leaders.

Despite the speed of eventual winner Dennis Foggia, Garcia frequently nosed into first place throughout the race, and used his incredible late-braking skill to close down any gaps that his rival had pulled on the straights

In the closing laps, Garcia kept the gap to less than two-tenths of a second. In fact, as Garcia rocketed through the final turns on the last lap, the 18 year old very nearly snatched the win from Foggia. He crossed the line just 0.078 behind the Italian.

Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team rider Izan Guevara recorded a solid top 12 finish, after a challenging race. The former Junior Moto3 World Champion, who turns 17 years old on the Monday after the Dutch Grand Prix, worked hard to find a consistent rhythm. Qualifying on 13th place on the grid, Guevara battled hard in the mid pack, and despite slipping outside the top fifteen on lap six, fought back into the points by the second half of the sprint.

The Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team and the Moto3 paddock now enjoy a much deserved month-long summer break, after which they head for Austria, and the Michelin Grand Prix of Styria on the 8th August.

#11 - Sergio Garcia: “I really enjoyed this race a lot today. I think this was potentially the fastest race we have had in the Moto3 World Championship all year so far. I was pushing as hard as I could, right until the finish. I was leading at times during the race, but the positions were changing so much between me and the other riders in the leading group. I had a small moment on lap 17 or 18 when I dropped back to 5th, but then I fought back. To fight for the podium in such a fast race is an amazing feeling.”

#28 - Izan Guevara: “It was not quite the race we hoped for, but we took some points today. We were looking quite good during the weekend but there was a crash in Turn 5 quite early on in the race and that meant it was tough afterwards to catch the group in front. We had good rhythm but could only make a few tenths back. Anyway, I’m happy and we’ll keep working like this to push onwards.”

Jorge Martinez (Gaviota GASGAS Aspar Team Manager): “It was a fast and surprising race where the front group eventually broke away. Sergio laid on a spectacular performance and, in my opinion, is the finest rider in the class at the moment. He rode very well considering the straight line speed of Foggia’s bike, so I just want to congratulate him for a very impressive job all weekend.”

    Results - 2021 Moto3 FIM World Championship, Round 9:

    1. Dennis Foggia (Honda) 22 laps; 2. Sergio Garcia (GASGAS) +0.078, 3. Romano Fenati (Husqvarna) +0.207, 12. Izan Guevara (GASGAS), +13.555

Championship Standings - After Round 9:

    1. Pedro Acosta (KTM) 158pts; 2. Sergio Garcia (GASGAS) 110pts; 3. Dennis Foggia (Honda) 86pts; 15. Izan Guevara (GASGAS) 36pts

LAIA SANZ ENJOYS 11TH CONSECUTIVE DAKAR RALLY FINISH

    View Profile

Adding another astonishing chapter to her remarkable career, GASGAS Factory Racing’s Laia Sanz has today successfully completed her 11th consecutive Dakar Rally. Saving her best until last by claiming 17th on the final stage, Laia not only brought the super-challenging event to an emotional and positive close but again underlined her position as a true Dakar legend.

    • Laia completes a staggering 11th consecutive Dakar Rally
    • 17th overall she again finishes as the highest placed female competitor
    • On the gas for over 51 hours, Laia’s GASGAS RC 450F runs faultlessly

Laia Sanz: “I’m just super happy to finish. It wasn’t that long ago that we didn’t know if we would even be here, so to ride up onto the podium at the finish, yeah, it’s just incredible. With what has been happening in the world this year it makes this one a little more special. My approach to the rally worked for me, riding a safe and manageable pace and I just wanted to reach the finish. I felt really good after the rest day so I could push a little more and ended the rally strong. My team has been amazing. Supporting me the whole time and my bike was perfect all race. So, thanks to them I’m so happy to complete another Dakar!”

The 2021 Dakar Rally came to a close today with a relatively short 200-kilometer special. Setting off from Yanbu and leading to the finish line in Jeddah, it was far from an easy stage. Loaded with technical obstacles from the start, it provided one last demanding test for all competitors.

Finishing this year’s Dakar proved to be challenging for all riders, very much including Laia. With the goal of simply completing this year’s rally, having had very little time to properly prepare for the event after contracting Lyme Disease last summer, the Spanish ace did exactly what she set out to achieve. Opting for a steady pace through the opening week, Laia reached the mid-race rest day without any major mistakes.

After a much-needed day of recovery and relative relaxation, Laia felt much more confident in her physical ability to complete the event. Picking up her pace as the end of the rally drew nearer, the ‘Queen of the Desert’ went on to deliver her very best stage result on the final day of racing, earning a 17th place finish. Following a highly positive end to her Dakar, Sanz moved up to 17th in the final standings.

Jordi Viladoms – GASGAS Rally Team Manager: “It’s just amazing for Laia to complete another Dakar Rally. Coming back from her illness last year, we really didn’t know what to expect and the plan was to take it day by day. Completing the rally, her finishing record is now 11 in a row, a truly remarkable achievement. This year was an especially tough Dakar, one of the toughest for quite some time but every day she fought hard. I’m really proud of her for what she has achieved.”
