KOREY MCMAHON CHARGES TO AORC E1 CLASS DOUBLE FOR GASGAS AT QMP

GASGAS racer Korey McMahon has dominated the third and fourth rounds of the 2023 Australian Off-Road Championship (AORC) at the Queensland Moto Park with a breakout double victory in the E1 class.

The 21-year-old and his GASGAS EC 250F took to the championship’s first Enduro format of the year solely focused on winning, and despite a number of crashes and errors, hung on to capture Saturday’s third round with a narrow 5.6-second win.

McMahon came into Sunday’s fourth round with added confidence, controlling the pace and staying error-free around the rocky, dusty hills. In the process, the NSW-based rider claimed three of the four stage wins on his way to a 43-second victory.

McMahon’s searing speed on Sunday saw him finish the round in third outright, capping off a memorable outing that has seen him take control of the E1 championship.

Elsewhere, GASGAS-mounted Jye Dickson picked up a brace of podiums in the ultra-competitive E2 class, staying consistent with a 3-3 result over the two rounds of competition.

Rounds five and six of the AORC season will take place at Edenhope, VIC, between 22-23 July.

Korey McMahon: “All-in-all it was a solid weekend and I'm really happy to win both rounds in class! I actually had a pretty shocking day on the bike with multiple crashes and errors on Saturday, but I’m still happy to come away with the win. It was good to clean things up on Sunday and get back in contention for the outright with a podium, which is always a good measuring stick. Looking at the big picture, I’m pretty happy with the way the two rounds went, especially the consistency I showed today. I took a lot of learnings away from this weekend, the bike was unreal and I’m excited to have a short break before the Australian Four-Day Enduro next month.”
