Rockstar Energy GASGAS Factory Racing’s Ryder DiFrancesco posted a breakout ride in the sixth round of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at RedBud on Saturday, qualifying fastest in 250MX before posting a sixth-place result overall. In 450MX, teammate Justin Barcia impressed with a solid seventh position in only his second round back from injury. Ryder D qualifies P1 overall in 250MX class at RedBud! Both teammates rank well inside top 10 overall Unique 4th of July liveries to celebrate Independence Day! DiFrancesco was fast from the outset onboard his GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition in Michigan, setting the fastest time in the opening qualifying session this morning. The Californian would reinforce that form with an even quicker 2:08:014 lap-time in Q2, which was half a second faster than P2 entering the afternoon's motos. A tough start in Moto 1 saw the 20-year-old outside the top 20 on the opening lap, with a decisive come-from-behind ride resulting in a hard-fought P12 by race's end. A better start in Moto 2 had DiFrancesco further up the field running as high as P4, before a fall dropped him down the order. Another charge ensued, this time resulting in a sixth-place finish and P6 overall for the weekend. Ryder DiFrancesco: “RedBud was great! Qualified P1 for the first time ever, which felt really good, and I was able to back it up in the second session. Not a great start in Moto 1, and I had to push my way through, which I think 12th was our best in that one. Moto 2, I ended up getting into fourth pretty fast, then I went down, so had to charge forward again. Overall, a good day, and the next couple of tracks are good for me, so I'm excited!" In 450MX, Barcia raced to eighth place in Moto 1 equipped with his RED-hot GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition, before ninth in Moto 2 saw the New York native claim P7 overall in just his second round back from a lengthy stint on the sidelines. Satisfied with his early progression, BAMBAM is looking ahead to Spring Creek next weekend. Justin Barcia: "All around, today was a good day! I qualified a little better than last week, and the motos went better than last week as well. First moto, had a tip-over that cost me some time, so that was a bummer. The second moto was challenging on a brutal track, but overall we finished P7, and I think if we keep trending in this direction, then we will be closer toward the front soon. Happy with the day – I always want more – but I'm satisfied with our improvement, and the bike was working really good. I'm looking forward to Spring Creek now!" Rockstar Energy GASGAS Factory Racing’s Casey Cochran has been sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 Pro Motocross season following a shoulder injury sustained at Southwick. Casey will undergo surgery next week to repair ligament damage in his shoulder, officially marking an early end to his outdoor campaign. Crash during 250MX qualifying at Round 5 resulted in shoulder injury Scheduled to undergo surgery on ligament damage next week Casey’s outdoor season has unfortunately been cut short while he recovers Cochran suffered a dislocated shoulder during the second qualifying session at the Southwick National. Earlier that day, he had posted the ninth-fastest time in opening practice, showcasing the speed and progression he’s demonstrated all season long. Following further medical evaluation earlier this week, it was confirmed that the injury included ligament damage that will require surgical repair. Recovery timelines are expected to keep him off the bike for the remainder of the 2025 motocross season. Sean Murphy, Rockstar Energy GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager: “It’s a tough break for Casey, especially after the adversity he’s already battled with the injury he sustained prior to Supercross. He’s shown incredible determination, and we were looking forward to getting a full outdoor season under his belt, but Casey is an extremely determined rider and we’re confident he will put in the work to get back on the bike as soon as he can.” Cochran's Pro Motocross campaign began with a promising comeback from a broken femur that had ruled him out of the 2025 AMA Supercross season. Despite limited time on his GASGAS MC 250F in the lead-up, he quickly made a mark outdoors in scoring two top 10 finishes across the opening four rounds, but his breakout ride came in Round 2 at Hangtown where he led five laps of Moto 1 and grabbed the holeshot in Moto 2. The entire Rockstar Energy GASGAS Factory Racing team extends its support to Casey and looks forward to his return upon his recovery.
Rockstar Energy GASGAS Factory Racing’s Justin Barcia made a welcome return to racing in Round 5 of the 2025 AMA Pro Motocross Championship at today's Southwick National, putting forward an impressive first appearance of the outdoor season to claim ninth overall in 450MX. Justin Barcia returns to competition at Southwick! BAMBAM immediately back inside the top 10 at Round 5 Casey Cochran unfortunately sidelined for the weekend Equipped with the RED-hot GASGAS MC 450F Factory Edition, BAMBAM returned to the sandy Massachusetts venue following an extended time on the sidelines due to a knee injury sustained late in the Supercross series. In displaying his ever-consistent front-running potential, Barcia powered to a hard-fought P10 in Moto 1, before running inside the top-five during the early stages of Moto 2. Still building endurance after his time out injured, the number 51 would finish P9 in the race and overall. Justin Barcia: "Today was challenging! It was good to be back with the crew and the team. I wouldn’t say it was a fun day because Southwick is pretty brutal! The fans are awesome, so that was a positive, and a top 10 is not too bad after coming straight from therapy. We’ll take it, and we’ve got some things to build on, so that is good. I ripped a good start in Moto 2, so I was happy with that, I showed some grit, and now onto RedBud!" In 250MX, Ryder DiFrancesco posted the 11th fastest qualifying time onboard his GASGAS MC 250F Factory Edition, before a tough opening encounter left him in 22nd position at race's end. Rebounding in Moto 2, DiFrancesco would be in the fight for the top 10, eventually claiming a P13 moto score for 15th overall. Ryder DiFrancesco: “Qualifying was better here, but I need to be better with racing on the weekends, taking what I learn during the week and applying it to the weekend. I finally got a good start in the second Moto, and we’ll carry that into RedBud.” Southwick unfortunately resulted in 250MX talent Casey Cochran missing both motos after suffering a dislocated shoulder in an incident during the second qualifying session. He had earlier posted the ninth-quickest time this morning, and is now scheduled to undergo further evaluation on his injury this week. Sean Murphy, Rockstar Energy GASGAS Factory Racing Team Manager: "It was very unfortunate that Casey crashed during qualifying, resulting in a dislocated shoulder. He’s shown great potential so far this motocross season, and it’s tough to see him have to sit out at Southwick. We’re grateful to the Alpinestars medical crew for doing their best to get his shoulder back in safely. Casey will undergo an MRI next week and we’re hoping to have a clearer picture of the injury by the middle of the week."
