FIFTH OVERALL FOR ISAK GIFTING AT MXGP ROUND 10

Reveling in the hot and rough conditions, DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Racing’s Isak Gifting has shown just what he’s capable of at round 10 of the MX2 World Championship, digging deep to earn a super-impressive fifth-overall at the MXGP of Sardegna. Great starts and a relatively trouble-free day saw the Swedish racer place sixth in both motos, securing his impressive overall result. For teammate Simon Langenfelder, it was a mixed day at the Riola Sardo circuit with an 11th place finish in the opening race followed by a big crash in moto two, bringing his day to a premature end. For our MXGP class competitors, Brian Bogers placed a strong seventh-overall with Pauls Jonass right behind in eighth.

  • Impressive fifth-place overall result for Isak Gifting in Sardinia
  • Top-10 overall for both Brian Bogers and Pauls Jonass in MXGP
  • MXGP resumes in two weeks’ time at the MXGP of Germany

Isak Gifting: “It was hot and rough today! But I quite like it like that as I know my fitness is good and it showed in both races. I felt great on the bike in both motos and I think in race two I could have maybe pushed for fifth, but I didn’t want to take any risks. To finish fifth-overall is a great day for me and the team. Now I’m looking forward to the Motocross of Nations next weekend in Mantova.”

After finding a favorable set-up on his MC 250F at the recent Turkish double-header, Isak Gifting brought both speed and confidence to the MXGP of Sardegna, round 10 of the MX2 World Championship. A great start in race one saw the Swede in eighth position early on. Following a largely untroubled moto he moved forward to secure sixth at the finish.

For race two, another strong start saw Isak again maintain eighth place for much of the moto, before advancing to sixth with six laps to go. With two solid results, Gifting was rewarded with fifth-overall, just the result he needed as the series enters its second half.

Simon Langenfelder was on the gas from the moment he took to the Riola Sardo track. Qualifying as the second fastest rider in MX2, the youngster carried his speed into race one as the German ran in seventh place for much of the moto. Unfortunately, a small tip over dropped him down the field for an eventual 11th-place finish. Fired up for a better second race, moto two was over before it really began for Simon as he was involved in a sizable start straight crash, which led to an unfortunate DNF.

Celebrating his birthday at the MXGP of Sardegna, Brian Bogers rewarded himself with a solid seventh-place overall result in the MXGP class. A great start in race one saw the Dutchman run up front early on before settling into sixth at the halfway stage. On the final lap, an aggressive pass on Jeremy Seewer saw the MC 450F racer advance one more spot to secure his fifth-place finish.

For race two, another top-10 start saw Brian run as high as eighth, before bringing home his GASGAS in ninth position for seventh-overall. A solid day at the office for the newly turned 25-year-old.

An excellent start in moto one saw Pauls Jonass emerge from the first turn up front, until one of his rivals frustratingly cut across in front of him. Very fortunate to remain upright, the close call pushed the Latvian way down the field where he then became involved in a fierce mid-pack battle. By race end, Jonass ultimately claimed 13th.

For race two, a strong start saw Pauls move into fourth as he exited turn one, a position he’d remain in until the closing stages of the race. Dropping back to sixth at the finish, the 24-year-old would secure eighth overall.

Simon Langenfelder: “Fortunately, nothing is broken after my crash in race two. It was a big one and I feel really lucky to be ok after that one. It’s a shame the GP ended like that for me because I qualified in second and felt awesome out on the track. Then in race one I had a good moto going but I accidentally hit neutral and lost a few positions. It’s good to know that I have the speed and hopefully I can be ready for the Nations next weekend.”

Brian Bogers: “I really enjoyed today, racing in the sand again. My first moto was really good, starting in eighth and working my way up to fifth, so I was really happy with that one. I was hoping for more of the same in the second moto, but I didn’t get a great start, somewhere mid-pack, but I was able to make my way up to ninth pretty quickly. Frustratingly, I got stuck behind another rider and it was a little one-lined today. I just couldn’t find a way past him and spent all my energy trying to do so. Seventh-overall today isn’t too bad, but it should have been better.”

Pauls Jonass: “Not my best of days and I'm a little disappointed with my riding. After Turkey we did a lot of great work but it just didn't seem to translate when I was out on track. My starts were good though and it was really disappointing to have a little get together in race one just after the start. I was lucky to stay up but I lost a lot of positions. Overall, it was a really tough track and I'm happy to be leaving here healthy. Up next is Teuschenthal and that's been a good track for me in the past, so I'm going there aiming for a strong result.”

Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing will return to FIM Motocross World Championship action on October 3 for the MXGP of Germany while DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Racing’s Simon and Isak will both compete at next weekend’s Motocross of Nations in Italy.
