YOUNG GUN SIMON LANGENFELDER SECURES HARD-FOUGHT SIXTH OVERALL AT MXGP OF PIETRAMURATA

It was Simon Langenfelder’s turn to shine in the MX2 World Championship today as the young German secured a superb sixth-place overall result at the MXGP of Pietramurata. Capitalizing on great starts in both races, he equaled his career-best overall finish of sixth thanks to solid 9-7 results. For last weekend’s star performer Isak Gifting, the GP started positively with a fine fifth-place finish in race one before a frustrating DNF in race two derailed his day. In the MXGP class, Brian Bogers was in exceptional form, charging through the field in both motos to secure eighth overall. For Pauls Jonass, frustratingly it was a day to forget with multiple crashes contributing towards an eventual 14th place overall result.

  • Young gun Simon Langenfelder returns to form at MXGP of Pietramurata
  • Brian Bogers shows impressive speed at MXGP round 15
  • One more race to go before Trentino triple header is complete

Simon Langenfelder: “Today was way better for me. I had really good starts and it was nice to be battling up front. I did get shuffled back a little early on in each race, but what’s really important at this track is to stay upright. You can lose so much time if you crash on the first lap. I had a great battle with Jago Geerts in race two and it feels great to be in a battle up front. Overall, I’m really happy to be back inside the top 10 and I can’t wait for Sunday.”

After his outstanding performance at the Pietramurata circuit just three days ago, Isak Gifting brought the same speed and dogged determination to round 15 of the MX2 World Championship. Following a great start in race one, the super-Swede quickly moved into sixth place and gave chase to Conrad Mewse in fifth. With fortune on his side, and with five laps to go, Gifting was able to take advantage of Mewse dropping out of the race, allowing the MC 250F racer to secure a solid fifth-place finish.

In race two Gifting was again on the pace and ran ninth well into the second half of the moto. Frustratingly, a technical issue forced him out of the running. However, with the points obtained in moto one, he now moves up to 13th in the series standings.

It seems that Brian Bogers didn’t get that memo about the Pietramurata circuit being difficult to pass on, as the Standing Construct GASGAS racer carved his way through the field in both MXGP class races. Narrowly missing out on a top-10 result in moto one, Bogers’ charge in race two was even more impressive as he moved his way forwards from 18th on lap one to complete the moto in a strong eighth place.

For Pauls Jonass, the MXGP of Pietramurata just didn’t go to plan. With high hopes of improving upon his seventh-place overall finish last weekend, crashes in both races resulted in a frustrating 14th place overall result for the Latvian.

Isak Gifting: “The second race here in Arco was up and down. The upside was definitely finishing fifth in race one and building on my result from last weekend. The downside was that I had a small issue with the bike while running ninth in race two, which meant I had to withdraw from the race. Overall, my speed is good and it’s great to be battling up front again.”

Brian Bogers: “It was a hard day for me because on Monday I caught a cold, which really didn’t help me today! I still did my best though like always and in the first moto my riding wasn’t bad, but I had to come from the back and finished 11th. In the second moto it was the same story as I had to battle through the pack and finished eighth for eighth overall. If I can improve my starts and combine them with my speed then we can definitely improve.”

Pauls Jonass: “Well, that was a tough day at the office! The second turn here is super tight and unfortunately I crashed there in race one, then crashed again a few corners later. I was way, way behind but came through to score a few points. Race two wasn’t much better because of another crash and I managed to salvage 10th which isn’t where I should be. On the positive side, my speed is good so if I can just stay upright and start up front then I know I can battle for the top spots.”

Standing Construct GASGAS Factory Racing and DIGA Procross GASGAS Factory Racing will return to the Pietramurata circuit for the third and final time on October 31 for round 15 of the FIM Motocross World Championship.
